KUCHING – Sports associations in Sarawak are encouraged to apply to the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) in order to have more Sports Administration Course<\/em> (SAC) to be held here.<\/p>\n

According to Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ong Kong Swee, the course is important in order to produce a knowledgeable, knowledgeable and experienced sports administrator to help propel Sarawak into a sports force.<\/p>\n

Dr Ong said this while representing Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Sarawak, YB Datuk Snowdan Lawan during the closing ceremony of the Sports Administration Course (IOC-OSOCM) at Riverside Majestic Hotel Kuching on November 9.<\/p>\n

“To get the Sarawak sports power, we need a good sports administrator. Therefore, state sports associations should always be proactive by meeting OCM to apply for such courses regularly. Such courses can strengthen leadership, absorb the value of pure values \u200b\u200band team spirit in leading sports associations,” Dr Ong said.<\/p>\n

He also mentioned the state government will also bring more international tournaments here to train more sports associations to be more competent and able to organize world-class championships well.<\/p>\n

\u201cSarawak would host four world championships in 2019 namely the 21st<\/sup> Asia Masters Athletics Championships, the 9th<\/sup> World Paralympic Swimming Championship, Asian Teen 10-Pin Bowling Championship and the Asian Teen Karate Championship,” he said on the upcoming world class tournaments that will bring benefits to sports associations in which they are able to learn and know on the intricacies of organising international tournaments.<\/p>\n

“In addition to this, it also helps to develop more technical force and sports administrators,”Dr Ong said on the course, it was the fourth time to be held in Sarawak organized and the first time was held in Kuching in 1994, Sibu (2001) and Kuching (2003).<\/p>\n

He thanked OCM for organizing the course in Kuching in which the state government through MSNS will apply for more such courses to be organized locally next year. A total of 57 participants representing 25 sports associations participated in the courses organized by OCM in collaboration with MSNS from November 7 to 9, 2017.
