{"id":20212,"date":"2022-08-01T09:05:55","date_gmt":"2022-08-01T01:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssc16.gov.my\/bm\/?p=20212"},"modified":"2022-08-01T09:05:58","modified_gmt":"2022-08-01T01:05:58","slug":"hoping-for-states-better-sukma-outing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssc16.gov.my\/bm\/hoping-for-states-better-sukma-outing\/","title":{"rendered":"Hoping for state\u2019s better SUKMA outing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>KUCHING:<\/strong>&nbsp;It is hoped that the Sarawak contingent will deliver more gold medals in the coming 20th Malaysian Games (SUKMA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In making the comment, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said a total of 698 athletes will be representing Sarawak in the coming SUKMA; and including the officials there will be over 800 representing the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adding further, he said 426 events will be contested out of the 31 sports that will be competed in the Malaysia Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abdul Karim said this when speaking to the media after officiating at the \u201850 Days Countdown to the 20th Malaysia Games and MSN 2022 that also doubled up as the &nbsp;Launching Programme of \u2018Our Star Our Pride\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur target as a state is 44 gold medals, but I&nbsp; believe we can exceed the figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese are feedbacks from our coaches and based on the athlete\u2019s performances with many having been training outside Sarawak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI hope these are the surprises in store for us,\u201d the Asajaya assemblyman pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also hoped that Sarawak could overcome the previous winner with 55 gold medals and believed that it would be achievable \u2018when unleashing your killer instinct\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCycling, BMX, rugby, and golf are among our potential events (that can deliver medals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI do hope that sports like wushu would still be able to deliver,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also present at the event was Deputy Minister for Youth and Sport Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source : <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsarawaktribune.com.my\/hoping-for-states-better-sukma-outing\/\">New Sarawak Tribune<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUCHING:&nbsp;It is hoped that the Sarawak contingent will deliver more gold medals in the coming 20th Malaysian Games (SUKMA).
